These holidays have been quite busy, as we have to hand in both our VCT projects the week we go back to uni, and luckily I have managed to finish both of them in time, after finishing off the VCT work, I then moved on to work on the collage extension project. I started working on it a week prior to it's hand in date. So I had plenty of time to finish it off.
Before starting the project, I had a rough idea of what i was going to make, I decided to make a 3D model of a street light. So I went to Hobby Craft, to get some material for the model I was going to make and bought a polystyrene sheet for the surface of my model, I was a bit unsure about what I was going to make the street light with, so I bought some clay from Hobby Craft thinking that I might make the light with clay and went to a DIY store thinking that I might find something better for the light. So from the DIY store I found a small toilet pie and a joint to go with it, when I attached both of them the looked like a street light, so i bought them, for the light I bought a cycle light to attach it with the pipe. Below are a few photos of the progress of the model...
This is the light that I made by joining the pipes together and then covering them up with clay.....
The idea that I had in my mind while making the model was that the street light will be reflecting a message on the floor, I tried to cover the light in a way that it projects the message on the floor, but it didn't work, so I thought I would rather write it on the surface. I thought of a few different messages, but then at the end decided to put down the logo of LCC. Below is the photo where I was trying to write the message using semolina seeds, as they looked like little pebbles and I thought would work well, but it didn't really work.
Here I tried to do it with yellow paint......
As the stencil was too thin and flimsy, it didn't work quite well. Then I made the stencil with black card and used yellow paint and finally it worked alright..The aftereffects...........Below are the images of the final model.....
