Vernacular Type

The second workshop that we had on Tuesday was Vernacular Type, as I didn't know what vernacular type meant before this workshop, here is a little definition for it for anyone who doesn't know its meaning, Vernacular is something that refers to the native language of the country or a locality, and typography is the art and techniques of arranging type. So in the workshop we developed typefaces in responce to London street signage and other letterforms. We started with handmade typeface which we can then process using softwares such as illustrator, fontifier, fontstruct etc. Here are a few photos from the workshop..... I chose to make my typeface using simple shapes in blue and red, as these two colours kind of represent London. Work in progress........
I only got till H, I think that A and G also need bit of modifications, I will be developing the typeface till Z and then I plan to get it developed from fontfier. i Will keep posting the progress.

So at the end of the workshop, we put all our work on the wall, it was quite good to see how everyone had there own different style and how each work was so diffrent from the other.
